NASA-MCP provides a comprehensive interface to NASA's APIs through the Model Context Protocol, enabling AI assistants to access astronomical data, space weather information, Earth imagery, and more. The implementation includes tools for querying the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), Near Earth Objects, DONKI space weather database, Earth imagery from Landsat 8, EPIC camera images, and exoplanet data. Built with Python and the FastMCP framework, it features secure API key handling, robust error management, and detailed response formatting for all NASA data endpoints, making it particularly valuable for educational contexts, space research, and Earth observation applications without requiring technical knowledge of NASA's API structure.
