Built by Figma and currently in open beta, it runs locally on the Figma desktop app and connects to AI-enabled code editors like VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and Claude Code through the Model Context Protocol. The server enables developers to generate code from selected Figma frames, extract design variables and component data directly into their IDE, and leverage Code Connect to maintain consistency between generated code and existing codebases, making it valuable for product teams building new features and design system workflows where maintaining design-to-code fidelity is critical.
