Docdex is a locally-running documentation indexer and search daemon that provides fast full-text search capabilities over markdown and text files within a repository. Built in Rust with a Tantivy-based search backend, it maintains an on-disk index and watches for file changes to incrementally update search results. The server offers comprehensive security features including TLS enforcement, authentication tokens, rate limiting, and audit logging, making it suitable for both development and production environments. It provides multiple integration methods including HTTP API, CLI tools, and native support for connecting AI assistants to project documentation.
