The 402 MCP server gives AI agents economic agency by enabling them to interact with payment-gated APIs without human intervention. Agents can discover paid APIs announced via Nostr, make autonomous micropayments via Lightning (NWC), Cashu ecash, or prompt a human for QR code payment as a fallback, and store encrypted credentials locally. It supports any L402-compliant server and includes configurable spending caps for safety.
